SureSmile
SureSmile orthodontics is a system we use to correct minor gaps or crowding situations without using braces! SureSmile uses sets of aligners (“trays”) to move teeth over time. A 3-D model of your teeth is created that allows us to analyze your bite from every angle possible. Using this model and our state-of-the-art treatment-planning software, movement of each tooth is calculated with precision. Your custom aligners are fabricated and delivered to you at the start appointment!
Tooth Colored Fillings
We are a mercury-free practice. Tooth-colored resin fillings are chemically bonded to the tooth and are sealed around the edges. These fillings flex with your tooth as you chew, so fractured teeth are not nearly as common. Silver mercury fillings are metal, so they expand and contract, and fracture is possible. If a tooth needs a filling, Dr. Prush will fill the tooth in one appointment.
Sealants
Sealants are placed to prevent decay in chewing teeth. Sealants are resin “coatings” which are placed in the tiny grooves on the chewing surfaces of back teeth.They act as barriers to protect enamel from plaque and acids. Easy to apply, sealants take only a few minutes to place on each tooth. Sealants hold up well under the force of chewing and can last a few years before reapplication is needed.
Zoom Whitespeed Teeth Whitening
ZOOM Whitespeed teeth-whitening is an in-office whitening procedure which involves an hour and a half appointment. Whitespeed is the latest technology offered by ZOOM and involves a concentrated hydrogen peroxide-based clear gel and LED light. The LED light is stronger than the previous ZOOM model with an ultraviolet light.
The LED light is used to enhance the whitening process. The actual whitening process is 45 minutes long (three 15 minute cycles) and custom-made trays are included in the procedure.
Same Day CAD/CAM Crowns
Same-day crowns are a wonderful procedure Dr. Prush offers in his practice. Using CAD/CAM 3-D digital software technology, a digital scan is taken of the prepared tooth or teeth, and few hours later the crown is cemented! No goopy impression material is used, no temporary crown is needed, and the patient does NOT have to come back on a second day to have the crown cemented! Porcelain veneers can also be made same-day. This CAD/CAM technology for crowns and veneers is state-of-the-art and results are fantastic.
Crowns/Caps
A crown/cap is a porcelain ( or gold upon request) tooth covering which cements over a broken-down, fractured, or largely decayed tooth. In addition to repairing damaged teeth, crowns/caps can be used to change smiles. A crown is actually a tooth “sculpture” made out of extremely durable porcelain and is customized to the shape, color, and bite of each patient’s preferences. Typically, Dr. Prush will have a crown in place in two appointments unless CAD/CAM technology is used. The first appointment is used to shape the tooth, take an impression of the tooth, and make a temporary crown for the tooth while the porcelain crown is made. None of Dr. Prush’s work leaves the country; it is all made in America. The second appointment is approximately 10 days later and is used to remove the temporary crown and cement the porcelain crown.
Bridges
A dental bridge is a restoration used to replace missing teeth and is cemented in place. Bridges are made similarly to crowns/caps and involve shaping the teeth directly adjacent to the missing teeth and taking an impression and making a temporary bridge. Like a crown procedure, 2 appointments are necessary and the cemented bridge can be either porcelain or gold.
Dentures
Dentures can be complete or partial in size and are used to replace missing teeth. Dentures are acrylic and removeable. Dentures involve several appointments over the course of a few short weeks.
There are three types of dentures:
- Conventional full or partial denture made after all teeth that need to be extracted are removed and the gums are healed.
- An immediate full or partial denture is made BEFORE any necessary extractions are done and is inserted immediately after the teeth are removed. The patient wears the immediate denture while the gums heal underneath. The advantage of the immediate denture is the fact that the patient does not have to be “toothless” while the denture is being made. The immediate full or partial denture will have to be relined after the gums are finished healing.
- An overdenture can be made which “snaps” onto implant attachments that are firmly placed in the gums/bone. The advantage of the implant-supported overdenture is the stability; it doesn’t move while talking or eating.
Implants
Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth with the advantage of dealing only with the missing-tooth space and not touching the adjacent teeth such as with a crown or bridge. The implant is a titanium root-shaped peg which is inserted in the bone through an incision in the gums. Dr. Prush uses an Oral Surgeon to place the implant. Dr Prush then inserts a titanium post into the implant and makes a crown/cap which cements onto the post. While the implant procedure spans a few months typically, the titanium post and porcelain crown stage is two appointments over the course of 10 days. Crowns, bridges, and dentures can all be placed over implants.
Tooth Extractions
There are many different reasons why a tooth or teeth may need to be removed: gum disease, severely broken beyond repair, severely decayed beyond repair, poorly positioned, or in preparation for orthodontic (braces) treatment. The removal of a single tooth can lead to problems related to your chewing ability, jaw-joint trouble, or shifting teeth. Dr. Prush can discuss tooth-replacement options prior to the extraction in order to avoid these complications.

Gum Disease Treatment
Gum disease occurs when bacteria gets below the gumline resulting in the loss of attachment between the gums and teeth. The bone around the tooth will recede and possibly result in the loss of a tooth or teeth. Gum disease is silent, chronic, and usually painless. The conservative treatment for gum disease is called scaling and root smoothing . Scaling and root smoothing is non-surgical and involves deep, below-the-gums cleaning (scaling) of the root surface where the bacteria/tartar is attached.The gums are numbed for this procedure and is usually done over one or two visits. Dr. Prush has dental hygienists who perform this procedure.
Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic bonding is a short term alternative to porcelain veneers used on chipped, fractured, or discolored teeth. Bonding is a composite resin chemically bonded to the tooth surface. Shades are custom selected and bonding is done in one appointment.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are the longer lasting , more natural looking alternative to cosmetic bonding. Veneers are done in two appointments and involve shaping of the affected teeth , an impression, and temporary veneers bonded in place while the porcelain veneers are made. Single teeth or entire smiles may be changed with porcelain veneers.
Bite Splint Therapy
A bite splint, or bite guard as some people call them, are clear, hard acrylic appliances used to treat TMD ( temporomandibular disorder) or teeth grinding habits. A bite splint is preventive in regards to teeth-grinding, and relieves symptoms such as headaches and muscle pain in regards to TMD.
Bite splints involve 2 appointments: one to take impressions of the teeth, and the second appointment to deliver and fit the appliance.
